[..YouTube..] SG: Thanks for the vid… my son just received bi-lateral ci’s last month. He is 3 y.o. and is currently attending an ASL preschool class at the utah school for the deaf and blind. He lost his hearing at about age two, and we have been teaching him ASL ever since. I have to admit that I’m absolutely shocked when I see so many deaf people on the internet directing hostility towards ci users. It’s really sad to witness this cruelty, and it doesn’t paint a good picture for the deaf community.

It’s unfortunate to the point where some deaf people believe all deaf should be the same but it’s not the case. I guess I can say they r just afraid to know the fact that other deaf people are different. ;-)

Yeah it’s not good for deaf community to divide into many different groups hating on each other where it will go nowhere.

That is wonderful your son attends ASL preschool class. I used to live in Utah so I know that school well. Hope you also get to learn ASL as well. :-)

My wife and I are currently learning ASL. We want to be able to communicate with our son both verbally and through ASL. I need to thank you for your videos… You have reminded me that the deaf community does not always share the views of mean and hostile individuals. I think that is safe statement to make for any community. Thank you for the breath of fresh air in what can otherwise be a negative and judgemental place.
