Summary: I was confused over the weekend trying to decide whether if I wanted to apply for a job at Deaf school or not since there is an opening position out there.

[..YouTube..] What does Jes think?
[..YouTube..] Jes is awesome to be supportive. I guess you have to look at your budget and see if you need to do it financially. I know you really want to personally, for personal reasons, the perfect job. How far away is it?
[..YouTube..] Not sure what state this is in, but do you know anyone in that state and/or school? if this is your dream job, this may be a once in a life time thing! Jes can pick up a job at the hospital there once he get his time in now.
[..YouTube..] That was a lot to take in for two and a half minute :P Seems you are very very confused but I would totally be confused too! I was going to work 2 hours away on my own house at a deaf school as accounting but didn’t want to leave my family and live alone.. but if you work at school, are most deaf schools residential? Jes could be nursing there :P
Find an apt. half way between both jobs?
Dang that’s all I can think of too!!
Well the answer’ll come to ya :)
Hugs!
Share with roommate in Vancouver. I know it is hard for Jes and you need together.
Jes can applied at Portland Oregon or Vancouver, WA ..Anywhere and it is good to starting to move big town instead of Seattle. Life can be complications of separate their lives apart. We love you to remain together instead of running two place
[..YouTube..] Knowing Jes, he always say it doesn’t matter what he thinks because him being nurse, he can get a job elsewhere. So if I get a job at certain place, not a problem for him to get a job at hospital there. So that makes a bit easier for us you can say that. He will go whatever I decide and we can always make it work. I still need to sleep on it first, though.
[..YouTube..] Hey jay11j, Nope I don’t know anybody at that school but do know a few in the area. Not like I want to live with them, anyway. LOL
[..YouTube..] Oh man, that’s a tough choice… long-distance relationships can be tough, especially if you can’t afford regular visits (Jes is a nurse? I know that they can have crazy hours and coordinating could be hard too), but on the other hand you don’t want to give up a chance for a job that you would love to have, and a school is a great place to work if you love to travel because of the breaks. Of course, in the end, it’s up to you and Jes. Good luck with it either way :)
[..YouTube..] Hi, this is something my hubby and I have had to make decision, too. He out of work year now. He was hoping to get work in another COUNTRY … I said YES, do it. We met each other when I work as tour director, gone six months of the year … see each other every couple of weeks, or months, depending on season. If this is dream job, or “stepping stone,” talk it over with Jes … if have a good relationship, will be OK. Money/job/career important now with bad economy. LUCK! PEACE…connie
No comment…. Only you can make that decision!!
Young man, follow your heart. Go for it! You’ll never know unless you try, and if you are hired, it could turn out to be an opportunity of a lifetime that starts a career that is portable from school to school.
You have talents and ability to teach in a clear, entertaining way and that could become part of the job as you grow into it. Travel will always be available to you during school holidays–it’s only 38 or 36 weeks of the year.
Jes being supportive is a rare gift. Not all partners/spouses are that supportive, so no excuses…go all the way!
If I were you, I’d wait til Jes find a job in a bigger city…that’s my personal opinion.
Apply and see what happens. Go to the interview, if you get asked for one, and then see what you learn during your interview. Maybe you’ll realize why the position is open. If it sounds good, then let’s hope you get offer the position. If you do, then you’ll have to decide to accept it or not.
I’d say go for it and see where it takes you.
[..YouTube..] oh noooo u made another silent video :(
Wow, that’s awesome, Geo! I am glad u have a very supportive partner. Whatever you decide to do, you have my FULL support!
Perhaps discuss pros and cons with Jes… and plus with yourself.. to see where it weighs more on. If more on pro, go for it! If more on con, then perhaps don’t go for it.
Doesn’t hurt to try to apply, ya know. Depending on the nature of the job, can see if u can telecommute? If a place of employment REALLY want you, they are usually open for negotiation!
Again, whatever u decide to do… u have my FULL SUPPORT!
[..YouTube..] NadrianATRS I don’t think if I even made any noise at all cuz Jes was sleeping in other room, he got home from work just couple of hrs before. :-)
[..YouTube..] Whatever decision you decide to make I’m sure it will be for the best. I have the best job in the world which is making an ass out of myself on here so there is nothing better that I want to do then being on here. Good luck in making your decision.
Hmm.. you need to write on the “con” and “pro” list.
Think of what you really want to do for your future before
settling down….your goals, desires, dreams…
If you want to travel like a bird, then working in a steady place all around is not for you. Then you would find something that makes you feel free to do what you want… like freelance or part time employment.
You need to make a decision on your own because you are the one to run your life.
Breathe easy and take time.
Life changes are really difficult. I think you would be awesome at that school and you would get great experience. It could be a wonderful opportunity for you. Still. . .a very difficult decision to leave Jes while you pursue your dream. Good luck in whatever you do.
Sorry I meant to leave my name on the previous comment. Pushed ‘commment’ button too soon!
That is the same exactly thing my former deaf teacher wants me be, so she can just retires. But actually she told me it is LOUSY PAID (she been complaining for 18 years she was with me, but what made her stay longer was ME. I actually was her first deaf student acting like her own daughter and she couldn’t abondaned me) I think you might get paid once a month . Just check with them and ask…it may be vary based on local. Esp. for private school.
I know you want teach deaf school, I want too! But my friend told me that professors in college make better/more money than teachers in school. The largest deaf college that make a lot money than any deaf colleges is Galladuete or NYC (I still would goggle to be ensure)
I would suggest you to think on it because you probably can’t live off that income (income of teaching school) alone without Jes. What abt two different apt. bills, foods, mortage, water, etc.
Hope all is well with you, only you can decide.
Hey you all!
Many thanks for the support and share some concerns, I appreciate very much! One minute, I said.. go for it and apply but the next minute, I said eh.. forget it. It’s been going on all day!
One thing I need to make clear is that it is not a teaching job. It’s for an office job at school working with admins. I have no teaching experience or whatsoever, only clerical, secretaries, etc anything that related to office jobs that I have over 10 years of experience.
I will keep you all posted whenever I make a decision.. like some of you suggested to look at cons and pros so that’s what I’m gonna do for the next couple days.
Wish me luck! He he.
Geo,
Go for it! :-) Since Jes is being supportive, just go for it. I said same thing like Riverburch1977.
I am curious, what state is that job located in? If it is in your state, oh just take that job to support you and Jes. :o)
By the way, if you got this job, don’t forget to split the paycheck for me too. You must support me or else, okay?
Uh, no? Oh damn you.
LOL!
Hope you make the decision and keep our seekies update!
Owens
[..YouTube..] Hey Geo! My suggestion was for you to visit the deaf school and also the area where it’s located to get idea if you like it or not before decide to apply for the job. Ask other deaf people who attend that school and to see if its worth to work there or not. Well, good luck whatever you decide to do!
[..YouTube..] @seekgeo Understood. So how do you feel today??
Go for it!!!! Apply!!!! No one is asking you to make a decision now and applying keeps you in the running until you make your own decision. Who knows after the interview they may take the decision right out of your hands. Apply so you don’t regret missing an opportunity.
Then take a piece of paper and write down the pros and cons of this decision. Remember absence makes the heart fonder and it’s not long term that Jes wants to stay where you are. As much as you look at the now picture, also look to the future picture.
[..YouTube..] Hey pacmile, Doing good! Just taking it easy and still haven’t decide but more likely I think i will not go for it but don’t want to decide now since I still have a few days before the deadline. So it’s all good, ha ha. Hope all goes well with you! :-D
decisions, decisions. Not too sound cheesy but if there’s a will, there’s a way
Be careful – many Deaf schools are closing because of state budgets. Make sure no money problems for school and not looking at closing because of lack of state funds
umm good oppornity (sp?) to get job I remember that you told me that if you get a job then you will stop blog/vlog right… also My friend is thinking to apply to WSD(washington school for the deaf) adms or staff i am not sure what she will apply.. . so Good luck with your decisions..

You and Jesse do everything good, it will work out good for u. Nothing will separate you both. Something out there will come out good. You are very smart guy and you will figure it out.
Hey Seekies!
Let ya all know that I’m doing good today and appreciated all your supportive comments, concerts, suggestions. I think more likely, I will not go for it but still a few days to think about, no rush. I found out that the deadline is actually May 3rd so still plenty of time.
Reason I think I might not go for it is because of two big cons but will hold on that and see the next few days. Hope all goes well with you all!
SG, in these kind of decisions of gravitas, you can only follow what your heart and soul say. Don’t intellectualize it too much. Follow what your “gut” says. Usually it’s always right.
I know either way, you would have been/will be the best guy for the position.
A decade ago I knew some Deafies that worked for a Deaf school in NJ and they were great administrators. They cared deeply about the students and it showed.
What a great way to work. To have a job that affects the future by helping out students, our future! To even have considered it is awesome!
So, again, definitely sleep on it and good luck.
Wow, what a tough, tough, tough decision!
[..YouTube..] ohh wow so tough choice sighhh… i have a tip, change ur shirt cuz it says “big blocks” . hope my tip is very helpful :)
[..YouTube..] Is it possible for Jess to find another nursing job where you need to move to? Maybe Jess can be the school nurse lol.
[..YouTube..] Hey DarkAurora2002, Oh yea, Jes can find a job anywhere that’s why it’s up to me if I want to apply at certain place or not. By the way, it’s Jes not Jess. :-D
[..YouTube..] @seekgeo Oh sorry. I have a good friend who’s name is spelled “Jess”.
follow your heart
follow your mind
follow your faith
follow your guts
follow your dream
Following will tell you when it is a right or not.
It wont be easy choice since we are all afraid to make a bad choice, but it is good lesson to learn!
You just need to seek your heart, your mind, your guts and build faith to follow your dream. :) It wont be easy but you can do it! :)
:)
[..YouTube..] If you want this job so much,.. why not ust take it? Right now the houses value isnt so good. You can easily sell your house and buy another house cheap. The economy is getting little better and the house value will increase. So now is the best time. I think you should take it!
[..YouTube..] There are often many difficult and confusing choices for us to make in life. I pray that you will be happy with whatever decision you end up making. I am a strong believer in whatever is meant to be will be. Keep us posted on what you decide. Take care! – Kelly
Agreed with Anonymous 1001%
When you wish to make your dream come true, you need to listen to yourself and see how you feel if it is a right time or not. Have faith in yourself totally.
If it is not a good time, you need to have a reason. If there is no reason, why do you destroy your dream? You would regret for hurting yourself. Take time and don’t abuse your head for thinking too hard.
I agree with Anonymous abt comments also other too!! smile Im pray with you!! make sure Jes n u make agree each smile!!
ILY n Hugs
[..YouTube..] You’ll feel it if it’s right. Your seekies will love you no matter what!
[..YouTube..] Remember, you are getting older… Maybe you should grab this opportunity and apply for this job, so if you got the job, you would start retirement benefit. Yes, it is hard to be apart, but since Jes supports you, it should not be a problem. Or like another comment states that Jes can always move and start school out there. Something to think about, as well. :) Good luck.
[..YouTube..] And also, this job is not too common so grab this small chance as you stated that you met all requirements. How often do you find that? :)
[..YouTube..] Hey JefferyBuckmaster, Thanks for the comment! Actually, I just posted a new video just now regarding my decision on the job. :-) Hope you have a fantastic week which we are getting ready to fly down to LV!
